Endurance Training

Preparing for a long-distance challenge – walking or running.

Fun With Fitness likes to provide training for particular running or endurance events.

These events are  popular because people find that having an event to train for really helps keep them focused and committed to training and fitness.

In 2010 Fun With Fitness took part in the Ingleborough challenge. This was a 25 mile hike up the Ingleborough Mountain in the Yorkshire Dales. It was a lovely rewarding challenge that took in some of the most beautiful scenery in Britain. We trained well and completed the challenge with ease!

Since then we’ve taken on a different challenge every year.  Last year in 2016 a small group climbed Ben Nevis and the year before it was Snowden.  This year we have a group climbing Scafell Pike and training is well under way for that!

We also run  half marathon training and regularly take part in  half marathon events.

Our half marathon run leaders, David and Jo are always happy to welcome new members and can offer you the encouragement, advice and support that you need when taking on such a challenge.

Marathon Success

We have taken part in the Colchester half marathon over a number of years and the St. Helena Hospice Coast to Coast.

We are always open to further challenges and events and members of the events group tend to suggest events they fancy and we then take it on as a group.

Although Belinda does personal training for full marathons she has yet to train the events team for one of these but no doubt she will work on them to train for one in the future.

  • Half Marathon training is on Wednesday nights at 7pm and we have the monthly walks for long distance walk training.
  • We are climbing Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis again this year.
  • Within the last four years, we have successfully completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks mountain climb in under 12 hours.
